From founding crew to open doors
Wrench & Cinder is being built the right way — by the people who'll use it. Here's how we get from a list of interested members to lifts in the air and projects underway.
The vision
A real shop, owned and run by its members
We're raising founding support to secure industrial space, install three automotive lifts, and open as a member-run club. To keep momentum, the founder is matching a share of member contributions toward the launch — and every founding contribution stays fully refundable right up until opening day.
The roadmap
How it comes together
Rally the founding crew
We gather the first members who want in. Their founding contributions form the startup capital, and the founder matches a share of it. Nothing is locked — contributions are fully refundable until the day we open.
Choose the space — together
Members who've signed on help choose the rental space. We're focused on industrial space within about 15 minutes of the Hicksville–Bethpage stop of the LIRR, so it's easy to get to.
Build the shop
We install three automotive lifts and set up the bays — tire machine, shop air, and an extensive tool box — plus a hangout space right next to the work, and potentially office space.
Open the doors
Private shop hours, member dinners, and oil-change clinics kick off. From there we keep growing the club — including building toward sponsoring a race team.
How founding support works
Built on member backing
- Founding contributions are pooled as startup capital for the shop
- The founder matches a share of member contributions toward launch
- Donations toward the club can count toward membership
- Everything is fully refundable until opening day
- Founding members are eligible for ownership shares, royalties, extra shop time, friend discounts, and other per-request perks — case by case
Where
Near the Hicksville–Bethpage LIRR
We'll only consider rental space within ~15 minutes of the station, so it's an easy hop for members across Long Island. Members help pick the final spot.
